Maybe the fact is that you used a low-quality flashlight? Unfortunately, this happens when the manufacturer installs low-quality glass. When dust gets in, it creates a cloudy light effect, the same thing happens with the lens that is in the camera.

Absolutely - you should only use a genuine Leica flashlight to check Leica lenses!

I confess that in my seventy years of photography, I have never done "the flashlight test".

I did a flashlight test on my Mamiya Six Folder, to see if the bellows had any pinholes. None that I could see. No light emitting from the lens either. A roll of film run through it, confirmed that all was good.
