Hello all

I just wondered if anyone here had shot with a FED 50... this seems to be a relatively unknown Soviet compact... even though more than 100,000 were made.

I used one a lot last year, taking it on the road to France and Istanbul:

Dead Link Removed

The lens vignettes round the corners a little, but not as much as the Lomo LC-A. And having started shooting a few rolls on an Olympus Trip 35 the last few months, the results are pretty comparable. The Industar lens it comes with is really sharp.

No David Bailey ads for this Soviet clunker though...

Nice review and pictures. I prefer the Industars to their more exalted brethren, the Jupiters.

Industar = Tessar design
Jupiter= Sonnar (and Biogon)

On Zorkis and Fed usually Industars are more contrasty and with higher resolution power than the Jupiters, that on the other side are more pleasant in terms of bokeh.

Each has its own application.
