Interesting thought, a 120 roll film camera. I even thought of using an old & beaten Yashica TLR camera. But then any participant can only shoot one image. And if it is loaded, wounded, ... wrongly we'll even have only 11 shots or less. So I'd rather use a 135 film camera with 36 frames thus 3 frames each. How about that?

That would mean this 11th camera is spoken for now (see list with names above) and if there are more people interested in participating we'll get us a 12th camera on the road as well.

I'll decide on the available cameras by the end of the week and present the options here to you all. I have several candidates, but I want to test some first. For this I ordered some new batteries last weekend and these should arrive on Friday. The cameras not used for this endeavor will finally end up on the for Sale forum (with fresh batteries).

Would all these participants be so nice to send me a private message (PM) with his/her full snailmail address (for shipping the parcel) and his/her email and phone number (for contacting)? Then locutus and I can work out a route for the 11th camera. I won't share addresses with other people or use it for any other mean than this 11th traveling camera. Your address will only be given to the participant who whill ship the camera to you (obviously).

I gave the 6x6 idea a thought and its probably to error prone yes.

As for a 35mm camera, a batteryless one would be a good idea this way we can evade any issues that might give and cause drama.

Ilford FP4+ or even Tri-X is fine - 135 film camera with 36 frames thus 3 frames each is a far better option than 1 frame with 120 film (though I love to shoot 120 !!).
I think your trusty Nikon FM10 is a great idea - those LR44 batteries shouldn't be an opstacle.
I guess every photographer has a pair of them in his cupboard, so that we could send the camera without batteries.
I could offer an Olympus XA rangefinder (2 x SR44 batteries) to keep the package handy and light ...

If we really are going to get 3 frames each, and unless we end up with instructions telling us what to make photos of ( "self portraits from 3 POV!" ), then I'd be happy to donate a frame to John.

So many excellent film and camera choices! I'm good with whatever the group decides, but agree that LR44 batteries are super easy to come by, so that shouldn't dictate the choice! Then again, who needs a stinking meter

I think the film/developer is most important as it will affect what most of us shoot! I think crazy artistic - FP4 in Caffenol-C-M - is intriguing... Of course, you cannot go wrong with Tri-X in Rodinal...

Hi all.

Any room for a 'recent newbie' to join in from the UK - don't think I've seen any others from the UK adding their names to the list yet??? I've done a few print and neg exchanges on another forum, so I am intrigued about this preposition.

Taking the various mentioned factors into account, might I suggest a plastic point and shoot, fixed focus 35mm camera, with most of them only needing one or two 'AA's' if the picture taker wants to use the flash and they weight next to nothing - so will be cheap to post around.

Hi, yes, sorry about the late response. Life was a bit bussy, bit I did test some "simple" cameras, like Olympus Trip and Olympus Pen-EE. Unfortunately they didn't show reliable enough for me to enter them in this venture. So I'm testing two other cameras right now, but haven't finished the film yet.

Update: the three tested cameras came out unreliable. One that seemed to work fine (Olympus Trip) came out with some negatives fine, but most heavily under exposed. I'm finishing the film in two other cameras (without batteries) and will have the film developed next week. If these are also unreliable I'm opting for the Nikon camera. In that case I would need to know who can't receive/send a camera with batteries, so I can put these people at the end of the list and they must use their own batteries.

One other option is using an Agfa Clack with roll film. It's 6X9 cm format so 8 shots. We have about 12 member so I could send an extra film or just send out two cameras? That would make the handling time much shorter and if one camera gets lost (like in round 10) the other one might still survive.

What do you all think? Two of the same cameras with the same film makes it still one round?

A Agfa Clack bundled with an extra roll of film would be fine with me, leaves the possibility of double exposure error though! (could be solved with a sticker "WIND BEFORE TAKING YOUR SHOT")

I like the idea of the Clack... with folks advancing after their shot. We could require that you write in the log book, which inevitably make the journey, that you did in fact advance the film

I also don't think that two cameras is a bad idea either.
