The entire presentation process--book suggestions?

I'm about to place my order for the books I need for the upcoming term and I'm hoping to throw in a book about matting in there, too. I'm about to begin working with fiber paper and I've started selenium toning my RC in the attempt for archivability and the slight "wet" look it gives to my blacks. Now I need to know how to present my work in an archival manner. Therefore, do you have any recommendations for books which discuss the process of matting, mounting, framing, etc? I'll probably be working with a metal straight edge, self-healing mat, and a hand-held mat-cutter as I don't have the extra scratch for anything fancier. The good news is that I can wield an exacto and have a sure hand from painting. Well, that's enough of my rambling, what can you tell me?

I don't know of any books on matting per se. I will make you an offer thou. When you are ready to learn how to mat and drymount call me and we will arrange for a time and you can come down to the darkroom and I will give you some lessons and you can use the darkrooms equipment. Contact me off list and I will give you the phone #. Dry mounting is a problem right now as we still don't have electricity there yet but with in the month it should be available.

I do a yearly workshop on cutting windows and framing using simple tools, rather than hind matt cutters. ALtho, I have one I find it easier to use a metal straight edge, healing mat and a logan cutter, just as you suggest.
In addition the self healing matt is clamped to a 3/4 inch piece of plywood and I like to clamp the straight edge down. Clamps can be found for a buck apiece at Home Depot vs $6 at various art shops. The clamping helps me as my "old hands" are not as strong to hold every thing together.
Works like a charm.

Sorry, forgot. There is a small book published by one of the mat cutting companies, mine is at the lab and I will not be there until tomorrow evening. I will send you the name later. The trick is cutting the windown counter-clockwise. If not the angle will be on the wrong side of the board, that with the lines.

Lee, if you would check my post about the print trade I talked about maybe some sort of trade for your time and knowledge in exchange for some grunt work on my part.

I've done some internet searching on a couple of book review and photo sites and the best recommendation is given to Kenn Oberrecht's Home Book of Picture Framing. As it's only $12.37 at alldirect.com and I'm already ordering a bunch of philosophy and poli sci books for the upcoming fall semester I'll see if I can throw that one in there, too.

This might be best found in a store that carries art supplies, especially mat cutting equipment. That is where I got mine.
