Curt, can't wait to get to meet you. Be ready for a long day of carbon printing with me.

Jim

It's getting close now, Jim what do I need to bring, besides some negatives, and where do I go. I'll need a private email for the location address and beginning time. My wife and son who turning 21 on the 17th are coming and we are staying in Anaheim so they can go to the theme parks and spend some quality time, rare these days without the girlfriend. I'll be driving up to workshop from there.

In Las Vegas I rented a Toyota Prius which was psychotic, it wouldn't turn on then it wouldn't turn off, then it would just start to drive off when I wasn't ready. In Death Valley I was driving along and it started to speed up for no reason at all, by the time I hit the brakes I was in the desert, literally, I drove off the road and onto the shoulder. I've driven a lot of vehicles but this one was definitely dangerous. This time I'm renting a "plain Jane" model.

Curt, I'll have Per send out the info on where his house is. I know how to get there from Ventura but I've never paid attention to the address.

Good luck on the rental car. That last experience sounds like you could make a movie from that experience. I hope my Tundra does not become possessed!

Good news for anyone interested in these two processes. We have had two last minute cancellations. So if you have ever wanted to know more about carbon or Platinum/Palladium come join us this coming weekend. You won't be sorry! Thanks.

As far as I know View Camera Magazine has a few of my photos in the latest issue.
If that is true be sure to buy lots of copies...

The workshop will be fun!

Trip uneventful but they want to make me a star in the movies in Hollywood. I think I can still fit the workshop into my new schedule though.

I'm set with a new Nis.....on car with 25 miles on it plus the miles from the airport.

Mike, thanks for the ride offer.

Great work shop, thanks Per,Dan,Jim for sharing your knowledge and passion on these two beautiful processes. There is a lot to digest and much more to explore, but what a good start.I am really impressed with the patience and expertise of all three. Long days ,but all questions and surprises answered and explained. And what a great group of people, some I knew and others I had not,but in the end we all had worked together with a great common interest.

Mike, It was nice to work with you and the others in what was a long day of carbon printing. Everyone came away with a better understanding of the process and some fine images to share.

Dan, Suan and I are embarking on a new way to create the very best digital negs for platinum printing.
Will keep everyone in the loop as we make progress.

Thanks to everyone for participating in this dual printing workshop!.

While no printing process is an art form on its own it is important for artists who use photography as a means of communication to fully understand - and become experts in the various techniques. That way technique can be applied to ideas and then hopefully become work of art.

Sandy, thank you also. You're name came up often and your book was passed around for all to see. I don't have the long term expertise that you and other carbon printers have but I do have the passion for it. I have to spread the word! I'm just amazed that other photographers do not see what we are doing. Again, thanks for all of your help and encouragement.

Jim,

Your prints are breath taking and an inspiration to all that view them. I came away with multitude of aspirations. I'll start making my own tissue as soon as I get home. I'm at the airport right now. Saturday was one very long day with a constant flow of techniques, ideas and exchanges. My prints are treasures to me as was the experience.

Many thanks,

Curt

Per,

Learning Platinum was an eye opener for me as were the digital negatives. This weekend accelerated my photography skills to a new height. The setting was great and the dog is my new best friend, please thank your wife for opening up your home to us. Words alone can't express how great and helpful everyone was. Thank you Don for your part in the instruction. I know that several people who I met at Tonopah got excited about the workshop and came away with some excellent images. It was exciting just to watch other people doing the processes. I learned as much watching as I did by doing.

Many thanks,
Curt
