The British Academy of Photography

Are these guys for real? I have never heard of this organisation, let alone their accreditation in granting education in photography.

I looked in the Photrio Classified and thought that the British Academy of Photography was being offered for sale. Boy, am I disappointed.

.....which surprises me. We've sold all the other family jewels, so I don't see why education would be any different !!

They are running courses that have to meet the requirements of BTEC, Edexcel, etc, similar are already offered at colleges etc around the UK and have to meet specified criteria are, are monitored and external examiners/assessors check students work. I've run BTEC courses and the criteria and curriculum are made clear in the Qualification specifications, there are 4 different levels the top one equivalent to a degree.

Sandwell College near Birmingham runs one of the best Photography BTEC HND courses in the UK, I've been to the college and met the staff and students, their facilities are second to none, both darkrooms and digital suites.

There's plenty of places in the UK to do the same course as this company is offering, there may not be the same flexibility, so they aren't unique.
