I know you dont actually have any experience with these cameras so let me clue you in.. yesterday I was at a local festival with friends. I brought my Agat which was fine w me using it but when I handed it to my friends who wanted to take pics, it was a bit of a disaster as they kept on accidentally changing focus.
The H35 is much better in these social settings as there is nothing to mess up and it so obvious where everything is. Plus the lenses optimal focus is between 8-15 ft which is perfect for snapping shots of people.

This is what you’d know if you used these cameras.

But thanks for the tip on the Kodaks on ebay.! I am going to try to snag some more as as gifts!

I suspect that I bought my FIRST Agat years before you ever heard of them.

I ran across the $29.95 EBAY Ektar H35 just by chance, but after doing an actual EBAY SEARCH, I found about 30 of them. They all appear to be NEW, IN THE BOX -- and prices go up to $200. Talk about NUTS! But if you happen to have a friend who has trouble tying their own shoes, the H35 may be perfect for them.

But wait a week or two and the H35 will be showing up on EBAY for $10 or less -- USED -- listed by the people who find them "just too complicated".

I bought my AGATs a long time ago -- well before the "FRENZY" -- but there are dozens on EBAY all the time, and if you're patient, you can find one for under $20.

Shot. a roll of c200 in my Agat today, but will have to wait until Tuesday at the earliest to get it developed.
The film advance feels better on the Agat than the Kodak, just for the fact that it is not a narrow sharpish wheel. If you shoot a lot like I do, it gets uncomfortable.

The Kodak is easy and simple to load, you just need to be careful with the rewind spindle as it seems fragile. The Agat is extremely fiddly to load, with the entire camera splitting in two, the need to lift up a pressure plate while threading the film through, and having to very carefully line up all the pieces as you push the two halves back together.

I shot a bunch o pics up close, and some at infinity and have high hopes as the lens in the Agat is super. I’m hoping the weird internal baffle that mine has does not mess up the pics too much.

Fyi I was using an F6 at the same time, but it was put safely away while I was standing in the surf taking pics w the Agat. And that is the great thing about cameras like the Agat, Kodak etc. You just use them and if ish happens, no big deal,

Just today arrived my first Agat 18 , non 18K ,anyway is quite the same
apart the fact that there isn't that sort of d.o.f. control on the lens basement.
I didn't know that is possible to take out the spool, i still can't find the way to do it,
i'll leave it there, i can load the film too without taking it out.

The 18K has the removable spindle. On the regular 18, the spindle is kept in place by a metal flap -- which the 18K lacks.

yes , a metal flap kept in place with 2 small screws,
now i've understood the difference, the fact is that
almost all videos un you tube show the Agat 18k .

I find the Agat 18 easier to load than the 18K simply because -- IF you are using the spindle -- it stays in place and does not move around. But with the 18K you can use a spare 35mm cassette as a take-up spool -- which helps avoid light leaks. But I like the DOF scale of the original.
SOOOO --- that's why I have both.

Never had any light leaks w my 18k. Nor my Kodak H35. Neither use foam seals which is soooo nice - especially for the Agat as I assume my NewOldStock one is pretty old. Those foam seals always go bad no matter which camera, and I hate changing them!

Finished the roll in my Kodak, so I will be dropping off two rolls of c200 at the same time. One shot in the Agat, one in the Kodak. Conditions were the same so the comparison will be valid.
