yea. I know the feeling. when I was taking classes at the local comm. college a few years ago I was tagged by some of the 18-19year olds as a hipster, which was kind of funny since I was as old as ( or older than ) their parents, same students also thought I was one of the teachers. That some of my preferences are tagged as "hipster" thing does not concern me much either. By the way, I also like indie music and I admit that I am attracted to certain retro issues.
I'd rather be a hipster than a boomer any day of the 8 day week.Modern day hipsters vs old fart boomers. Sums up half the threads in this place.

...but not an ebay one...He says that “a budget M rangefinder is a used one” ==> “a budget Hasselblad is a used one”
not sure if they have moved onto something else, I only know what old folks on this and other "photography boards full of people who are typically older, white and male " mean when they say hipster, its usually an insult ....Like I said in my earlier post, I don't know much about it, but are hipsters still a thing, or have they all moved on to something else? It would be good news if hipsters have moved on to something else, so we could get more vintage cameras back on the market.
I was reading something somewhere that Generation Z has declared that side parts are no longer a thing, but Millennials disagree. I didn't know what they were talking about so my daughter told me that side parts are where you part your hair on the side which now seems pretty obvious. When I talk with my daughter it's mostly Captain Obvious talking to Captain Oblivious. Anyway, Generation Z now part their hair in the middle. Seems like that's what the hippies did. I never parted my hair in the middle, but a lot of people did back in those better days.
I think the term “hipster” probably needs a subscript to denote which era of hipster is being described.
Gen Z are younger than millennials are crotchety old bastards, and Gen X is largely ignored. I don't have the cellular implant yet, and i'm not on the various platforms where people tend to talk about this stuff. I do know a bunch of people who are about 18 and back when the whole BLaime stoppe thing happened I made a comment and was not taken seriously, cause you know, im over 30 and a clueless dolt, and about a week later the same thing I had said was pointed out to be true ( through the various talking heads on news organs like seeNbeesee ) ... I said something about it (again) and these people had already moved on to more pressing issues. maybe its connected to center parts and side parts. I have one because I have a big sweep, hard to do a big sweep without a side part... unless I have a power lock. getting back to the OP, im guessing the guy who was eating condensed soup and Raman who made 40million short selling doesn't care if a Leica is affordable or not, and he's probably the reason why they are super expensive right now too. you know nouveau rich tend to like bling bling.
ps. aren't genz people millennial ? or is it the other way around.
I used a Leica once. Felt good in the hand. Way too expensive for such a small negative.

Just saw a dummy Leica M2 w/ a dummy Summicron 50mm f2 lens for sale at a reputable camera store for $2000! This is for a non-working display model. Unbelievable.
Eggleston`s could also be titled "Counting the bills in front of the poor."

My old farts smell better than your old farts!
And so? Does Leica need to make an "affordable" film or digital camera? They seem to be doing quite fine with their business model as far as I can tell.
Anyway, I can hardly wait for my new Hasselblad cell phone to arrive!
The word "hipster" has really evolved over the years. While the first references were probably from jazz musicians to other jazz musicians, it's gone through many different incarnations. I associate it now w/ a poser, or wanna be. Back in Ginsburg's days at City Lights Books, the moment of that era was as important as the words, because it was those events which created the words, through Ginsburg, and gave voice to the rage and anger and shock.

What if a boomer has a mid-life crisis and starts behaving like a modern hipster? Best or worst of both worlds? :-DModern day hipsters vs old fart boomers. Sums up half the threads in this place.
I think most boomers think they are the real hipsters, the kids are poseurs. What if a boomer has a mid-life crisis and starts behaving like a modern hipster? Best or worst of both worlds? :-D

The boomer midlife crisis happened 25-30 years ago. Hair plugs and a sports car! New spouse! Hipsters hadn’t been invented yet. I do find it funny that the hipsters like to wear my dad’s hats so much- sans suit and tie of course.Aren't boomers well past mid-life crisis?
