Photographica Show in Wakefield, MA - April 12 & 13
The 81st Photographica Show will take place on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday April 13 at the Americal Civic Center in Wakefield. This is the largest film camera and images show in the Boston area. There will over 80 tables filled with antique film cameras and images. Dealers are looking to buy as well as sell.
Anyone who has an interest in film photography or has antique cameras to sell should attend. Complete information can be found at www.phsne.org
I will be there along with many other APUGgers. Ask for me at the door and I'll give you a get-in-free card.
We have an auction going on the evening of the 12th, with many very reasonable items. I think, because the crowd is often mainly dealers at this particular auction, that anyone willing to pay about 60% of what the retail would be on any item will usually get what he or she wants. Dealers have to leave a lot of mark-up in their bids and will not pay more than 50% of what they will get for something. Things that are not likely to be immediate turn-arounds on dealer tables often go for a song. We are determined not to take this stuff home folks help us clear out the warehouse!
Great show today... A lot of amazing folks and gear to boot. Whitey, thanks for taking the time to chat for a few minutes. Looking forward to cleaning and mounting the Darlot Petzval.
GOING TODAY!
2 enlargers are there today and will go for almost nothing
1 Beseler 23 $5 (or $25 with EL Nikor 50mm and board)
1 Omega D with board but no lens - $5
There are also piles (no kidding) of cameras and gear on the dollar table- with more coming in from dealers who don't want to take things home. If you are in the Boston area today, come by and load up your car!
BTW,
The head on the Omega has a filter slide, which is maybe slightly uncommon for them.
It also has with it an omega VC filter attachment which moves blue and green filters under the lens, it's a really interesting looking gadget. The filters are broken, but that's easily fixed. Also don't know if it even works, there is no easy way to test it there, but it's a cool thing.
