Thanksgiving 1940

This is now the second child with an axe ...

OOOH, can't stand the Child with the axe. Actually, that could be me in one of my Dad's Christmas movies. I got to carry the axe when we went out to cut the tree..

Most of you may be misreading that photograph. The axe in the child's hands is to protect him from the turkey. When. I was about that age, I visited an aunt and uncle who raised turkeys. The turkeys chased me and sometimes caught me. Even these "domesticated" turkeys could fly up into trees to spend the night, just like the wild ones do. The males also have "spurs" and can use them. The bird in the picture was a female......Regards!
