Tetenal Indesit & HP5+

So I'm about to develop my first batch of HP5+ film for the first time in a long time. I learned photography using HP5+ in high school and haven't shot or developed film since high school ergo I have forgotten everything I knew and am starting to build up my knowledge again from scratch.

I couldn't get any Ilford Ilfostop, so instead I purchased some Tetenal Indesit. My question is how long should I use the fixer for, i.e. how long should I leave my film in the stop bath for? Should I use the same dilution, temperature, time as I would if I were using Ilford Ilfostop?

Obviously related to indicator, as such is contained within that fixer.

Hey pdeeh, thanks I have been already reading the Ilford guide to developing B&W film and it's a great resource. I was trying to keep things simple and was going to use the Ilford chemicals mentioned in the guide by the only place around here that I know of that sells chemicals didn't have any Ilford Ilfostop so I got some Tetenal Indicet instead.

The instructions on the label indicate that the dilution is the same as Ilford Ilfostop, 1+19, although the label reckons 30-60 seconds, should I leave the stop bath in for the 30-60 seconds or should I stick with the 10 mentioned in the Ilford guide?

Stop is the least critical part of the whole process*

Why not just follow the manufacturer's recommendations?
There's no reason not to.

* now watch as a deluge of people come in and disagree and then turn the thread into an argument about film vs digital

Hey Jingles, have fun with your developing. HP5+ is a great choice of film. It happens to be my favorite emulsion. What developer are you going to use with it ?

You seem to be considering thes two terms (my emphasis added) as equivalent. They are not.
Indicet is a stop bath. Second in the process sequence.
Next in the process is fixing.
Do some reading as suggested by pdeeh. Good luck.

You only need a stopbath for FB papers. A 30 s rinse in plain water is sufficient for film. The argument was that a stopbath was necessary to prevent carryover of developer into the fixer. However the amount of developer in the emulsion is too small to be of any significance. It is any remaining developer in the developing tank that is a concern. This is removed by the water rinse. Then there was the another argument that development must be immediately stopped. Again this is of no real concern.
