I just bought this lens/shutter you know where, thinking I could use the lens on my postcard format Speed Graphic. It should cover, right? It's just very odd looking - what exactly is the story? Is the lens that small or is the shutter that big? What else can I use the shutter for? Why doesn't the shutter have an aperature? The true sign of GAS I suppose - buy first, ask questions later.

Thanks,
Dan

The lenses are quite small I have 5 or 6 LF Tessars, and an f6.8 165mm is far smaller than any moder equivalent, but that Betax shutter is rather large overkill in fact. They also require very strong cable releases are they are self cocking, ie you actually cock the shutter as you fire the shutter like the Press Prontors/Ibsors.

betax shutters are the best!
the shutter speed indicator is like an fstop indicator
and the speeds are good between the noted speeds.

have fun!
