Tell your Dektol time and dilutions

Please tell your favorite Dektol time and dilution for paper and why you prefer it that way. Maybe you have different dilutions for different needs as well? Remember to include information on which paper you use.

When I used Dektol for paper, I did what the package sez (was it 1:2?) and that was it. If I didn't like it, I would use Selectol-Soft instead.

Now I use Ilford PQ or Multigrade for the most part, and use Dektol for film sometimes when D-19 is not quite harsh enough.

1+2, for RC i develop for 1:30, with 15 seconds of drip time, for fiber 2 minutes with 15 seconds of drip time. How i learned it and i like the results.

For RC, its 90 seconds with 5 secs drip before the stop bath. For FB, it depends on the manufacturers recommended time, mostly 2 1/2- 3 minutes, with 5 seconds drip time. I do 10 seconds in the stop bath for RC, and 30 seconds for FB paper in the stop. My fixing times differ as do methods for RC versus FB paper.

I dilute it 1+2 as directed by Kodak, and develop for a full 2 minutes. For enlargements, I use Ilford MG-IV and Arista.edu ultra VC RC . For contact prints I use Foma Fomalux 312.

Have somebody found a way to control image "color" with different dektol dilutions and time?

Going 1+4 will give a contrast change to some degree from 1+2. I usually print with agfa 100, a clone of d72/Dektol, and use it 1+2, and go with 2' for FB, or 3' 1+3 if I am printing 20x24, when I use a single tray and pour in and out the different chems.

It's a cold working contrast developer so isn't used to shift image colour. There may be slight shift but those of us who do work with warm tone papers would use an appropriate warm tone developer.
