I saw several threads concerning rumors about Techpan so I went to Kodak's site and found that Techpan has been discontinued. In fact TP has not been made in several years, they have just used the last of the old film stock. The old coating room is gone and TP will not be made in the new plant. The replacement they suggest is 100-TMX.
I suggest Efke 25 - sharp, fine grain and much more predictable tonal response characteristics than Tech Pan. It use it in 120 roll, 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10 sheet. I purchase it from APUG Sponsor J&C Photo.
I just found an old article, a film test from the mid 1990s - FotoHobbyLabor compared Fortepan50 (disc.), Agfa´s classic APX25 ((disc.), Ilford PanF, Kodak TMX100 and Efke KB14 (now KB25)...
Guess which won on the sharpness side?
It was the Efke, a then 40year old emulsion type. Others "won" in terms of fine grain, handling, tonal response, but the grand old Schleussner lady beat them all. ;-)
