does anybody know the difference between the linhof technikardan 45 and technikardan 45s?

Someone just posted a question about this recently over on lfphoto.info, so you might do a search there. I believe the only significant difference is in the construction of the standards, but that the functionality of the two cameras is the same.

The TK45S (nice camera, BTW) is newer, has beefier three piece L-standards (and hence weighs more) and center detends on the tilts and swings. Don't underestimate the significance of this last feature. The Technikardan requires swinging both standards by 90 degrees to "fold-up". With the detents on the TK45S, setting the camera up and getting the standards parallel is literally a snap. Geting things squared up on the TK45, without the detents, requires visually checking that the standards are in their neutral positions. Not a show stopper, but something else to slow you down when teh light is changing.

I answered about a week ago in answering your previous question about models of the Technikardan: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)
