I have a 9 1/2" f4.5 lens made by Wollensak but it says Heliar. I thought Voigtlander made Heliar. I can find nothing about it on the web.

I would love to mount it on a Technika board, is that possible? The threads measure about 3". I would need a flange or retaining ring.

A shutter would be nice, too!

Does anyone know anything about this and have one? The lens looks relatively clear. Is it even worth it?

Thanks.

My 9 1/2 inch Wollensak fits perfectly well on a Tech board using a flange on the front, screwed to the board. A retaining ring on the back would be fine; you would need to find a used one or have one made.
My lens barrel is shorter than this one. As the front of yours seems mounted in aluminium, can it be a joining of two different lenses? As long as it focusses, eh?

Thanks for the info. So, do you think this lens was modified? I doubt I'll ever find a flange or ring unless I order one from SK Grimes.

It is definitely a Voigtlander Helier lens with a US Pat. No. 716035
That patent number was filed De. 16, 1902 by C.A.H. Harting of Brunswick Germany
The lens serial number 105,361 is on the Voigtlander serial number list as dated 1910.

Some one had it mounted by Wollensak for whatever purpose and now you are fortunate to have it.

Holding it up pointed at a window with a white wall or piece of paper projecting the image behind it,
does it roughly correspond to the focal length of 9 1/2 inches?

Would be fun to try it out on a view camera using tape and a foam core lens board.

Thank you. I held it up to a lens board on an 8 x 10 camera and infinity was about 9 1/2 inches away so it would work fine. I’m sure if I could just figure a way to mount it, I guess I could just cut a hole in a board and do the tape trick.

I couldn't be sure the rear lens group was what? but it appears to be aluminium as well and all my age appropriate Wollensak's are brass: so yes a Heliar in sheeps clothing, front and back.
