Hi all,

I'm trying to learn how to use my sb-30 with my fm3a. I noted on the flash it has a TTL mode, and was wondering a few things:

  1. Do I need to set the shutter speed to 1/250?
  2. How do I use the flash exposure compensation button on the left side of the lens mount?
  3. How do I trigger the flash without firing the shutter? This flash doesn't have the test button like all later model of Nikon flashes.

Good morning!

1- Or less than 1/250th in Manual. In Auto, the FM3A should set the speed to 1/250th.
2- You press it while pressing the shutter button at the same time. It is to give a fill-in balanced flash with daylight.
3- You don't.
4- You can read more about the FM3a here: http://imaging.nikon.com/history/chronicle/history-fm3a/ And the manual is here: Dead Link Removed
