The number of English-language specialist publications on newer (SLR) cameras repair is manageable.

I think I have compiled the most important titles here:

The Camera Craftsman, SPT Journal and SPT Service Notes were published periodically.

Editions of repair/service manuals, C & C Associates Troubleshooting (just for an overview; issues on analog cameras can no longer be ordered via the website) and Larry Lyells' service guides were available for selected cameras.

There is also the National Camera Training Program on Learn Camera Repair, but for reasons unknown to me it does not cover SLR technology.

The books by Tomosy, Romney and Lippincott are out of print and are now being sold at high prices. Some of Tomosy's titles are available as Kindle versions.

An overview of Japanese titles would also be interesting.

Internet Archive gives free access to all sorts of books. Quit a few camera and photography books. Old and new.
Some books require you to open an account, but there are no charges.
You can make donations if you feel like, but they are not compulsory.
I have been using the site for quite a few years now and had no problems.
I also have no connection to the site apart from being a happy user.

An example of what is available should come up here when I typed in Camera Repair .
Hopefully the link works. If not just search for Internet Archive then enter CAMERA REPAIR in the search box.

.

Unfortunately, I can't separate the titles I'm looking for on "camera repair" from the other topics (repairs of all kinds).

But I don't think there are any "classics" to be found here on newer cameras anymore, I've read about them somewhere, or I hope so ...

I have to agree that manipulation of searches is a bit limited there.

If you know the title and author of a particular book and it is in the library, it does help in finding it.

When books are mentioned on the various forums, it is worth a quick look in the library to see if it is worth buying a printed copy.

There are quite a few well known books available including titles like The Dark Room Cook Book.

Like any bricks and mortar library they do not have every photographic book printed, just a good working selection old and new.

I'll add this (a self-published work, so no publisher or ISBN #), currently available as print-on-demand. But coverage doesn't extend much beyond the 1960s, so there's no coverage of Zenit-E and newer, Salyut / Kiev 88, Kiev 60, et al. However, Soviets were masters at recycling and repackaging older designs, so much of the info on Zenit 3M and Kiev 6 also applies to newer Zenit cameras and Kiev 60, respectively.

There is a book on Exakta repair. I have a copy of it. I will post the information, once I get around to it.

(Updated information below)

The title of the book is Ultimate Exakta Repair, and the author is Miles Upton.

Here's an image of the cover of the book.

I am not sure if I am reading your post correctly.
Apologies in advance if I have misunderstood.

In the link I put up earlier for the library, scroll down to the second row, there is a listing for the Exa Camera Repair Manual by Pentacon.
Just click on the picture.

I just edit my post and included a picture of the cover of the book.

All aspects of photography on film.

Indispensable for a basic understanding of how cameras and lenses work:

Hello Alan.
I am looking everywhere for this Exakta VX repair manual. Please let me know if you already have it in electronic form. I would appreciate your reply.
