There is very, very little info on the web about Tamron Adaptall-2 lens mounts for Leica SLRs. Clearly Tamron made one for the "R" cameras, but it's not clear to me if they also made a separate adapter for the "SL" cameras or if the R adapters will readily work in an SL or SL-2 body.

I've looked at the big Adaptall website and even in browsing through the lens literature where the lens mounts available are mentioned, I've seen only one reference to a mount for the R4.

For those of you who understand the differences between Leica lenses for the Standard, SL, SL2 and R cameras (cams, etc.), perhaps you could share your expertise. Does anyone have any hands-on experience with Adaptall mounts for Leica?

The only experience I've had with this sort of combination was years ago when a customer bought a 'flex & off-brand lens. When you have the Leica why use a second class lens?

Trask;

I haven't used them but I have sold quite a few as a salesman for over 40 years. The story as I got it from our leica Rep was Leica would only license Tamron to list one model, The Leica Reflex. The difference between the Leica reflex mounts is the number of cams. This will determine which cameras they will work on.
I can't remember if Tamron ever made a two or three cam mount.
One cam lenses will fit all models, but no metering.
The lever will stop down the diaphram on all models.

Two cam lenses were made for the SL cameras for TTL metering.

Three cam lenses were made for the R cameras.

Leica also sold a srecial one cam model lens for the R cameras ONLY.
I believe it is so marked on the lens to differentiate it from the first one cam lens.

Hope I haven't confused you too much.

I have a T-4 leica single cam mt for sale .
email me if interested or with other questions.

I have bought several lenses and mounts Tamron Adaptall and Adaptall 2 in the 80's ; used for FD Canon , Nikon , M42 , Pentax K , but , unfortunately , not for Leica .
I have still now some of them , with owner's manuals ; it's written there are Leica mounts only for R4 , R5 and R6 , nothing else .

With the exception of the special marked Leica "R" lenses any R or SL lens will work on the original Leicaflex as I posted above.
This goes back to the "fact" that Tamron could only claim their adapters would work on only one Leica Reflex model.

Tamron made three adaptall mounts Leica SLR's that I know of. The one that was made for R models will not mount on the earlier Leicaflex models. Tamron made 2 different adapters for the Leicaflex: one that has no mechanical linkage between the camera and lens and a standard model that does.
Hope that helps,
Richie
