Not really. But my car did - it decided to break down, so my funds are going to be diverted to that matter.

This has happened to me several times. Infact, I just sent my one of my Accuphase amps in for refurbishing just to have a disconcerting noise develop in the front suspension of my van!

Get a Rolleiflex?

Oh well, might just as well wait for Sirius Glass to tell me to go for Hasselblad 😵‍💫

The whole point of wanting Nikon lens is my unwillingness to add more cameras to the list of those I already own but never use.

Hey, I use Nikon AF cameras too. Not the same, but sometimes I have to travel lighter.

You got that right. Just joking about the Rolleiflex although i use and love mine. I wouldn't hesitate with the old Nikkor 50.... they're really well built and have great character

Indeed it's hard to beat Nikon AF system in terms of weight-to-performance ratio.

I have tried several medium format cameras in the past (not a Rolleiflex though) and while I loved their majority, the truth is, using a medium format camera is an overkill for me. I simply don't photograph anything that important, or that demanding in terms of negative quality.

This is madness! I swear this is the first time I've ever seen a thread where the OP wants to be talked out of buying yet another lens...seems almost blasphemous!

What are we talking about, $50 ~ $75 for a 50mm f/2 AI Nikkor? -- one of the finest, most loved manual focus Nikkor lenses in history? Sheesh.

You don't need a reason. You don't need to agonize. You don't need to think about it. Just buy the damned lens and be happy.

You took the words right out of my mouth 🙂

These lenses are so inexpensive that buying one is a complete no-brainer. Buy it, enjoy it, don't fret it, you won't regret it 😋

What on earth does that mean? How can I tell a "sterile" lens from a non-sterile one, if one doesn't come in a biohazard bag?

We are speaking of color and/or contrast here. The contrast of the 1.8's is cooler, and effects the total level of resolve as well.

The Nikkor 50mm f/2 has optimum color and contrast which allows it to render a scene accurately when used with the most accurate color film, Ektachrome.

Maybe it is unable to reproduce. How sad would that be?

It's a little difficult to juggle between lenses, bulk film and packs of paper along with feeding the family with my wage. And besides, the nature of this thread is not too serious, to begin with.

There is a finite amount of space to store things, and a finite amount of time to use said things. More is sometimes worse. I say this from experience - I have too many camera, lenses, and enlargers. I do use most of them, but could easily pare down the collection and get just as good of results, maybe better. I also have trouble selling them off, mostly because it takes tim, which is in short supply.
