I was sent a cassette of October 1952 Dated ILFORD FP3 with the 'Challenge' to see what i could get out of it. I decided to use 2 Geoffrey Crawley Formulae -- FX-4 and Acutol-S FX15 both at 1+1 .
I did a strip setting 100 ASA on my Weston Master V to start and got 1/60th @ f16 then kept 1/60th and changed the Apertures to f1.4 and 'Guessed' 9 mins @ 20oC in FX-4 1+1 which was over-developed-- so on next test I set 10 ASA and cut time to 7 mins and got some negs with a high Fog Level but Images ! The FX=15 developer gave a much LOWER Fog Level at 7 mins . I have done a Video about my testing showing the actual negatives and some prints -- you can see it here:

That was fun! Thanks! That old film sure has a tight curl, even after processing. I wonder if a firm pressing under books would take care of that?

That really was great, haven't heard the word, "Fillum" for some time now.

Quite interesting discussion on the two developers and their differences; I'll keep that in mind when next I get some really outdated film to expose and develop.

Your old camera is actually younger than your film.

Mick.

I've had reasonable results from Ilford Selochrome glass plates which seem to be from the same era. but have no date on the box. Still experimenting with them but certainly old Ilford film seems to stand the test of time.
