Has anyone got any experience in taking un-exopsed film abroad?.

I am planning a trip to Italy later this year and would like to have done a project on film but unsure how the x-ray scanners will react with it.

I know people have said that they inform airport security but my dealings with airport security is they either don't listen or appreciate what is been said to them.

It'll be fine.
This subject has been done to death over the years - have a quick search in the APUG archives and you'll find dozens of people asking exactly the same question !
have a nice holiday - with film, of course

From that, do i take it your a local
Not really Ian, I am nearly a 100 miles to the South. It is just that way back in the 60s there was a very good stock Yorkshire actor on the BBC whose name escapes me but I can still see his face who specialised in Yorkshire drama and one of his sayings that stuck with me was the quote about Bawtry.

It was the dry Yorkshire humour that appealed to me

Exposed or unexposed, it doesn't matter, you'll be fine. Plenty of people still fly with film every day, with no problems. Just keep your film out of checked luggage. When you go through security you can ask for a hand check but don't worry if you don't get one. I've had film x-rayed over 14 times in a single trip with no issues (one of the problems flying internationally from Japan). During my trip to Europe last summer, which included Italy, I exposed over 110 rolls of film and they did not suffer any damage whatsoever.

Keep it out of checked baggage at all costs! The X rays used for that will fry your film first time round.
Hand carry all film before and after exposure and you'll be fine even if they X Ray your hand carry bags.
