Hello, I am new to the forum and generally speaking, a new returnee to photography. After the recent passing of an artist friend, I was willed some of his camera equipment collection and so after much consideration as to what I would like to keep and use, give away and sell, I have the following for your consideration:
For sale here is a Tachihara "Hope" 8x10 Large Format Camera. Included with the sale is the Tachihara 4x5 reducer back as well as the seemingly rare (such that I can't even find another one) 10x12 non-bellows extension back. It may be that this extension back was custom made for my friend in Japan as he spent some time there teaching.
All items are used but seem in good working order. I can supply more photographs if needed. I could not find any pinholes in the bellows but can't be 100% sure I didn't miss anything as it's a big camera to handle in the dark.
My understanding is the Tachihara were well regarded cameras. Today, I can only seem to find them for sale on eBay save for one on this site some time back.
I am only able to base my pricing on the eBay results I have been able to find and as of today, prices for used "Hope" 8x10 only (no lenses, reducer or extender) have auctions starting at more than $2500cdn. Two have also sold in the past few months (camera only) one at a little more than $2500cdn and the other a little more than $2600cdn. Here, you have a chance to get the camera as well as the reducer back and extension enlarger back for less than those camera only prices!
I am asking $2000cdn ($1550usd) + shipping costs for the group of items which seems fair to me considering the abovementioned eBay stuff.
