The instruction booklet for the camera is the best start. For theory Langford's Basic and Advanced Photography are required reading, and available for next to nothing on the used market. For inspiration the Magnum contact sheets book is excellent.
"The Camera Book" is a good one. I saw one at Mr. Cad (London) another day.
"The Encyclopaedia of Photography" is another one.
You might find similar to these in the USA.
Any of John Shaw's books on nature photography are excellent. I have a couple that I bough back in the '80s. Back then he shot with manual focus Nikon gear.
