T-Max 100 (120) backordered?

This is just one reason why I keep plenty of stock of films that are important to me and even save things like backing paper, one just never knows.

As painful as it is, I also think it is actually a good sign that TMX in 120 has been out of circulation for a bit, Kodak is likely being 100% sure that the product is of the quality many of us have come to expect. I don't need a quick fix, I need a real fix and can use other slow films in 120 if I run out of TMX.

Backing paper issues have been a concern of mine since Simon Galley mentioned how it is the bigger cost in manufacturing 120 films. I had the issue with TMY2 last year but that has been sorted out and I have had no issues since.

The bottom line is that this could have happened to any of the film makers we buy products from and who is to say how Fuji, Ilford or Foma would be dealing with it.

I know I am not popular here at times for not joining in on being super critical of film makers but I just know that from a business standpoint, I need film, paper and chemistry to stick around so to me, it makes no sense to unleash on any of the film makers we have left.

back when George eastman was starting up, that was his motto. The story goes that he had several bad batches of film, and so he sailed to england and tried making film at Kodak Limited with his materials until he found the problem was with the gelatin.

Kodak at one time made backing paper themselves, it seems it is not contacted out. the QC issues have increased

All right now.
Was supposed to available in june 2016 (and I'm not even counting before that), then august, then in october, december, feb 2017, april and now in July 2017.

Can't even come up with an explanation? A note? Something along those lines, maybe?:
"Haha you morons"?

I am glad I have a lot on ice. I may have to move to Delta 100 if it is still out of stock when I need to order.

I wonder if this has anything to do with backing paper issues since 35mm seems to be available just about everywhere?

It may be that Kodak may never be able to sell T-Max 100 in 120 again with numbers printed on the backing paper. Or that Kodak will never be able to sell T-Max 100 in 120 again, if producing a separate run of backing paper is uneconomic.
That would be sad.

I don't think those were Kodak's dates. I think some of the retailers auto-generate those dates.

Really, it's looking like the end of TMAX 100 in 120 size. How long has it been since Kodak has made a good batch? Years?

It may be that there's a set coating window for TMX every certain number of weeks & that if the issue is difficult to resolve, that window gets missed for coating 120. It took a fair amount of time for Ilford to resolve the issues they had with the second coating run of Multigrade Classic & refill the supply channels.

Yes I have noticed this as well. It might be that our U.K. stockists are still supplying from "old stock" which has yet to run out but I don't know.

To keep it simple and avoid speculation, bitching etc can anyone here give the "known" facts i.e. statements issued by Kodak that tells us exactly what the current situation is or simply point me and other interested parties to such statements.

Don't worry about it.

Rather than a vendetta it is more like a dance, or perhaps a fencing contest. Someone voices concern over some Kodak related issue and the Kodak apologists come out to counter the thrust or guide the direction of the dance.

It is actually quite entertaining to watch.

I would be concerned that those UK stocks would exhibit the problems with backing paper wrapper offset that caused problems to end users and the subsequent lack of supply in the first place.
And I will agree on one issue with NB23 - Kodak Alaris has made no public announcements anywhere with respect to the backing paper wrapper offset problem, and they should have. They acquiesced with John Sexton making his announcement, and have dealt directly with individual photographers (and I assume distributors and retailers) but there is nothing else public out there from them.

Quite correct. The public, the paying public, has been left to fend for themselves.

I'd be very hesitant to use any of this UK stock as it is clearly very old and god knows what condition that paper is in.

So it would seem from responses since my post that we lack any facts on current status as Koda has made no public statements. All we know or at least appear to know, is that in the U.S. there is a lack of supply and in the U.K. at least 3 stockists still have stock. Whether this is old stock is again just speculation. It is not a known fact that it is "clearly very old"( however "old" may be is defined) nor do we have anything resembling a fact that justifies a statement such as "God knows what condition that paper is in"

the problem cropped up when the paper was changed, perhaps the stock distributed in Europe was from a different batch and they are still working through the supply. I recall that somewhere on APUG someone identified the affected emulsion codes. one might have to chat with the UK suppiers to see what code they have in stock.
