If anyone is in NYC, make time to go to MOMA and see the exhibit of John Szarkowski's photographs. It's a fairly small exhibit, but includes both the work he did prior to becoming MOMA's photography curator and work he's done since retiring.
The prints are well-seen and beautifully printed. When I saw them, I was reminded of the observation by "some famous guy" that many B&W photos are printed with too much contrast in order to heighten the drama of the print. Szarkowski's prints are "textbook" correctives to that failing. They're lovely.
