I am being offered with a swap of my 5 years old Fujifilm X-Pro 1 body for a Canon 750 DC with non IS lens. Would that be a good idea? Putting aside the 16 vs 24 mpixel difference, would you go for it?

They are really different cameras. Are you looking to change systems, and do you have need for an SLR vs. a mirrorless option? Does Canon offer better availability than Fuji in your market? How does the handling compare with respect to your preferences? Which lens is included?

Thank you very much for your reply Matt!
It is a hard to decide one for me because I am not much into digital for the last two years as I do almost only film. My X-Pro 1 is with a manual focus Canon 1.4 SSC FD lens and it has barely clicked 1000 times. Even if I get the Canon, the odds are that it will be left with its 18-55DC lens on it.

In my mind the advantage of the X pro is the ability to use a large number of prime lens if you don't mind manual focus, Canon FD, Minolta MD, Pentax K and M42 come to mind. On the other hand if you are looking for AF, Canon has a very wide range of lens not to mention third party lens. Canon with a 18 to 55 kit lens makes a very casual shooter kit good for travel. Last is color, as I understand it Fuji sensors are a little different from other CMOS sensors, the RBG pixels are random which some say makes for a better color palette. From what I've seen Fuji color is very good. Don't know which has better high ISO performance, the X pro with the Canon 1.4 ought to do well in low light situations, you can get buy with an ISO of 400 while with Canon and a kit lens you would need to use 3200, 1.4 vs 5.6.

Thanks Paul for the reply. You are absolutely correct! I forgot that I bought my X-Pro 1 mainly for the ability to shoot with almost any manual lens in my collection. I also had the chance to try the Canon and what bothered me was the loss of sharpness and appearance of color noise at 1600 and 3200. It is also noisier than my X-Pro 1. It looks nice, but I think I should keep my trusty X-Pro 1 after all.

I though so. It would be silly swapping my X-Pro 1 for an entry level Canon. Mainly I would loose my ability to use all the MF primes I have.
