i can do you one better when i was a kid it was 25 cents a gallon and then there were price wars and it would drop to 19 cents.

The statement said "Thirty years ago ..."

I can remember further back than that, but rather then getting into a flame war on age, I will concide that you are older than me!

Ann is correct. And there used to be an apparently constant price war along I-55 in SE Missouri. I think the lowest I ever saw there was about 17 cents, probably back in the late 1960's.
