I know that there are sprays for changing a gloss surface to matte (my favorite surface), but is there a post-processing method to do this chemically?

It seems to this naive mind that all that might be required here is a microscopic roughening of the perfect smoothness of glossy paper, but 'imagining vs implementation' are disparate entities!

Maybe someone has managed to succeed in this, but I hold out major doubts. Thank you. - David Lyga

Yes, but that is typically based on gelatin too, containing particles for matting.
