A question for those brave souls printing on washi/kozo—how are you handling mounting the paper to a heavier substrate? As is often the case, a quick recce on YT left me more confused than before—my first thought, using starch paste of some sort and gluing to a heavy watercolor paper was recommended by some, but not others; while traditionalists seem to use a backing of still heavier rice paper (“masa”) that will be, I assume, attached to backing board before framing.
At any rate, any thoughts appreciated—and I would be interested in why you’re drawn to this particular aesthetic, and how that might change your presentation philosophy for the artwork as a whole.
