I just bought one myself. Unfortunately there is very little info in English available. Nothing special about the use of it. You can find examples on flickr, Instagram, etc. There is repair info in japanese if you search Google. You can then use Google translate or some other software to get it in broken English.

Saw a few of them in the camera stores in Shinjuku. They look like 70's spaceships. Doesn't look like the chrome ages well though.

They're very unique looking. I want sold on them at first. I wanted a Mamiya Six, but was having trouble finding inner in good shape for a decent price. Found a Super Fujica with a clean lens and decent mechanics. A little brassing. If I end up loving it enough, I might strip the chrome. Leatherette is peeling a tiny bit. Need to reglue that.

I was thinking the same thing, if I love it, I want it black.

Not a huge fan of chrome.

Removing the top plate seems pretty straight forward although the bottom plate appears to be one with the body shell? That would be work.

Any experience stripping cameras? @bushpig

I've just bought one.

Similar features to the Agfa Super Isolette. Folder, 6x6, rangefinder, unit focusing and auto frame advance with no red window. afaik, the Super Fujica 6 has a 5 element lens though.

Mine was in excellent condition but I still probably over paid. Even so, it was a third of what an 'as is' Super Isolette tends to go for. Came with a cased lens hood too.

Unfortunately not. If I decide that in not okay with the brassing on mine, is probably have someone do it for me. I'll most likely leave it though. Doesn't bother new that much.

Welcome to the club. I feel this camera is a secret and when it's discovered in the west, positives will skyrocket. I paid 159 USD for mine after shipping from Japan.

My film advance knob doesn't click when I turn it. I saw a video of someone loading film while researching the camera and theirs clicked. Anybody else have this issue/feature?

I have experience stripping cameras of chrome,

I am planning to grab one soon, just kind of waiting around for a cheap of cheap price or maybe something in North America.

I plan to do a brief write up of the process. I’m done stripping cameras after that so I might as well share my secret sauce.

Should be a fun project. Still looking for a suitable set of strap lugs... I think this camera could use its own!

I tend to dislike leather cases! Do you find the camera to be heavy? Awkward in any way?

I'm generally not a fan of leather cases. I don't carry mine around my neck though. I leave it in its leather case for protection and just toss it in my bag. I don't find it heavy, but I often use the RB67 handheld, so the Fujica is a feather in comparison.

My first time out with the Fujica, I carried it in a pocket of my cargo pants. Not the best idea as it kept banging into my knee. As folders go, it is on the heavier side, the knee banging wasn't pleasant. I adjusted my pants so that it banged into the side/back of my leg but it wasn't long before I gave that up too and force fed it into my overcoat pocket.

Now, I use just the lower part of the case and wear it around my neck. I don't need the upper part of the case as the lens is protected when not in use.

This is an old thread and I did not own one in those days. But I bought one from Japan more recently. Obviously, if it works, it's a superb camera, full featured and very light. does anyone care to comment on top plate differences? I've been contemplating buying one of these folders, and I see a subtle variation even within serial number family (starting with 8------)
Note the cover or difference on the ASA dial. Is one missing a part?

I believe it to be a cosmetic change only, the older style has film type reminders (barely) visible through the little window.

They’re nice cameras, not too heavy and with a decent viewfinder and good lens. The trick will be in finding a decent copy, some of the ones I’ve seen on the big auction site are described in somewhat fanciful terms, condition-wise!

Mine developed a sticky shutter, but not on the lens end, rather it was on the shutter button. It was pretty easy to clean and service. There is an exposure indicator, but there doesn’t seem to be any double exposure prevention mechanism (at least on mine). Film winding mechanism has been reliable.

I ordered one from a Japanese seller last year, his description was the usual vagary with all the + signs. It arrived and was immediately rejected as a piece of garbage. The photos looked okay but the camera lens was filthy and the shutter was way off. I'm gun shy of Japanese sellers these days.
