I won't try to sugar-coat it: this lens is a bit worse for wear. First, the good bits: with careful alignment and stopped down it will cover 8x10" (without movements) and give you a super-wide approx. 17mm 35mm equivalent field-of-view. The shutter is largely accurate, except for some of the faster speeds hardly anyone ever uses anyway. Here are all the shutter speeds as measured using an app I trust:
The aperture and shutter speed dials move smoothly and the shutter opens, closes and fires reliably. Onto the issues: the lens has what I would call moderate to heavy Schneideritis and some other smaller issues like cleaning marks and scratches. As ugly as it is to look at, I don't see any impact on image quality (to my eyes anyway). I hope I've represented all of this fairly in the picture, PM me if you would like more pictures. The lens comes on a DIY Sinar lens board that the previous owner constructed (as pictured).
Considering all that, let's say 150 U.S. $ net to me?
- 1s - 1/3rd slow
- 1/2s - 1/3rd slow
- 1/4s - 1/3rd slow
- 1/8s - 1/3rd slow
- 1/15s - 1/3rd slow
- 1/30s - correct
- 1/60s - correct
- 1/125s - 2 2/3rds slow
- 1/250s - 2/3s fast
- 1/500s - 2 slow
