Hello,

I would like to know if anyone uses x-tol to develop kodak TRI-X Black & White Reversal Film 7266 a Super 8 film. What are the times for that developing, the diluition and the temperature.

Also I would like to know is there are other chemistry you know is better for developing KODAK TRI-X Black & White Reversal Film 7266, like fixing bath, etc...

The link for the film KODAK TRI-X Black & White Reversal Film 7266~is;

Do you want to process it as negative film or as reversal film. It will lose some speed around 1 stop if processed as negative

I would do a clip test with a grey card before developing a whole reel and start at around 6 - 7 mins 20°C

The best developer for Tri-X as Negative is D96 followed by D76 they are very close the first was purpose designed for MP Film development the latter was also used for cine film development but was superseded by D96. time for D76 is around 6.5 mins (EI 100 - 125) but test test test
Kodak advice on developing cine B/W film with formulas http://motion.kodak.com/motion/uplo..._en_motion_support_processing_h2415_h2415.pdf

Good Luck

Thank you very much for the ideias.

What you mean with the grey card? Where do you put the card when I develop with x-tol?

Can you please tell me if the baths are the same for super 8 film and for black and white film:

1. developer 2. stop 3.fixer

Thank you.

The Grey card is used at the shooting stage shoot a few frames (use single frame capabilities of your Super8 cam) at different exposures (f/T stop) with a grey card to see how correct or far off your dev. times are. One frame or a series of frames if you don't have single frame capabilites should be shot at the metered exposure and from there you increase and decrease the exposure (change of f/T-stop) in 1/2 stops. Clip tests means a small amount (a clipping) of the film is used for test purposes. You should also put a reference to the base exposure time and difference between metered and changed exposure time in the frame (again at the shooting stage). Say a small piece of paper on which you write metered exposure, on the next paper if you increase the exposure e.g. +1/2 Stops etc...

For neg development the baths are the same for reversal processing look up the steps on Kodak film data sheet for 7266. The time for X-tol is probably close to that from D76.

I have read some sites and forums. I've read that is better to have a Lomo tank to develop the super8 films. I was thinking to develop without a tank.
Can you develop super8 film without a "professional" tank?
