Sunpak PZ4000 Intercompatibility

Hi everyone. I have a photographer friend who is computer illiterate that is trying to find out whether the PZ4000 would be usable on both his Canon A2 and his line of medium format equipment, which is the Mamiya RB and possibly also on his C330. The feature he isn't sure the PZ4000 has or not is a PC port, which would make it usable on mostly all medium format cameras. Does anyone know if this flash will fit the bill for him, and if not, can anyone suggest a similarly powered and equipped flash that will foot the bill for his needs?

That one? The big issue would seem to be the low power. GN of 80(?) might be okay with 35mm but with MF might not be that great. Somebody might make a hotshoe to PC cable.

Unless the Canon has some advanced features he wants to use. If it does then go up to the 555.

Thanks for your response Nick. I'm not sure, but I think he might want a flash taht will shoe mount with his 35mm (for the sake of compactness) but handle mount with his medium format. He's probably willing to get either used or new, as he bought a lot of his current equipment used. His A2 35mm SLR probably has some special flash circuitry, as it is an EOS model camera, but I'm not exactly sure of the specifics. Do you know any shoe mounted flashes similar to the 544 or 555? Other than it not being shoe-mountable, it seems perfect. I'll have to check with him though. THe 544 might be just what he's looking for.

I don't know about shoe mount. Metz might make one that takes modules but new it'll be more money.

The used choice is the Metz 45 CT-4 or CT-3 or CL-4 or CL-3. It's handled mounted but with the right module will provide almost all the features the 35mm camera provides. Maybe a combination of a smaller shoe mounted metz and the 45? Then when he needs more power for the 35mm camera he can use the 45. When he wants small the shoe mount.
