Sunpak 622 Repair Source?

I have a Sunpak 622 Pro that I'd hate to send to the e-waste facility. The flash still works, but only discharges at full power. The manual power setting has no effect, and the auto has no effect, no matter how close the subject. The result is always the same, a full power flash.

Before it goes away, I'm hoping someone can, or knows someone who can, repair it.

My first thought would be that thyristor that controls discharge being defect.
But maybe my approach is just too simplistic.
