Read the article and watch the video.
These guys are melting their glass jewellery with sun.
Of course You can fuse your small aspherical lens in the mold with the help of powdered optical glass. You will rush immediately to the store to buy big plastic lens and call the schott america to order your first optical glass , wont you
Dont forget , this is Sunday and they are closed  Ahhhh

Besides joking , fusing glass is a manufacturing technology for melted , poured and than crashed optical glass pieces at least at Canon.
You can watch Canon Factory videos at their websites.
Fusing glass have a international art appliers and I asked at their forum to melt my glass in the mold in the furnace.

Furnaces requires intense current and it is costly.

This method could be used at garden as the video artists did.
May be a free end of a metal plate can be heated and it spreads the heat more evenly on to the mold.
You can place the shadowy areas in to brick wall and heat losses decreases.

Fusing glass by heat technology have some steps propotional to furnace heat and the desired final effect. I saw some artists uses cracked glass pieces joint togerher with borders visible. This is 600 or above celcius degrees technology. If you purely melt your glass and require a final single piece , it could be 900 or little below.
This is so much lower degree to melt your glass with raw chemicals . I dont know how do they
overcome from bubbles but may be puting the mold in the higher degrees for a longer time discharge the bubbles. Than you need to anneal the glass at 500 or so degrees and industrial heat sensors could help you to maintain the correct heat.
You can start from the basic shapes without cnc and test your material.
