Summer 2025 Astrum group buy

Posting here for now since I’m not going to be taking orders for this for a few weeks, but I wanted to give folks in the US a head’s up that I am doing this again.

I will be ordering either FN-64 or Foto-100, as these are the films I know I can have cut to LF/ULF, for all orders going forward. I’ll probably alternate between FN-64 and Foto-100, so this time will be Foto-100.

I do plan on ordering 1 or 2 other film stocks, and what film I get really depends on what you guys want. At the moment I am waiting for a small amount of Foto-32 and A-2SH to arrive so that I can test them and see what people think of them.

• Foto-32 seems to be Kodak 2378 EXR sound recording film, based on the information I was given. As I understand it, this is also what Washi S film was.
• A-2SH is a 400 ISO aerial surveillance film, although I am unsure who made it.

If neither of those films are of interest, then Foto 200/400 is always an option, as is Mikrat Ortho.

I have been asked about bulk aerocolor, and although yes, I can get it, it is $210-ish for a 100 ft roll, so I don’t expect anyone wants that.

A few film formats that might be especially interesting, even if only to a few folks:

• I can probably get unperforated 16mm film for the subminiature folks, but there may be a minimum order I need to hit, maybe 200 ft.
• I can get ULF sheets, I believe up to 20x24” (50x60 cm), but for sure up to 16x20.
• 70mm film! I can get it, although unfortunately I have yet to find anyone who can perforate it.
• I can get film for Cirkuit cameras! Not an exact fit, but I can get 7.5” (19 cm) and 9.5” (24 cm) film in long rolls.

I've used several of the Astrum films and been pleasantly surprised by them. My favorites are: MZ-3, which is a very slow reprography film of some sort, which can deliver almost Tech Pan like results, and Foto 100, which has NIR sensitivity, allowing you to use a Hoya R72 filter with it!
All of the Astrum films are very interesting and capable films. The only one I dislike is Foto 400, and only because it is ridiculously thin, making it difficult to handle. The Foto 200 is much better.

I have seen MZ-3, and I have definitely been tempted to try it, along with Mikrat Negative. But I wasn’t sure if many people would be interested in such low ISO films. As it is only available in 35mm I might offer it as an “bonus film” kind of like Mikrat Ortho has been.

I am very curious about Foto-32, I have heard very good things about Washi-S and am curious to see what that is like. Supposedly it can be used up to 100 ISO, or as low as 25 ISO, which give different results. if the contrast can be reduced with a very low contrast developer, maybe technidol or room temperature ECN-2 dev, it could be a very interesting film indeed.

And yes, Foto-400 is very thin, lol.

@MattKing not sure if you’re the right guy to ask but you’re the only moderator I can think of off the top of my head.

I just found out that I can get new 120/620 spools and paper from Shanghai at a reasonable quality (as in, no 1,000 roll minimum order), and was wondering if I could point that out in the MF section of the forum, since I do need to order about 30 rolls to make it viable, so a few people will probably need to order rolls.

I thought there was a 127 thread but I can’t seem to find it, searching yields a lot of results about 127mm lenses. I’m hesitant to just randomly post a thread there since it’s definitely more of an advertisement than is typically allowed outside the classifieds. Just don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, I know these rules exist for a reason.

Could you possibly point me to the 127 thread I’m thinking of? Or, if it wouldn’t fit there, let me know what I can/can’t post in a new thread letting folks know that this is now an option?
