I see sulfamic acid listed at various photo chemical sites and have never seen any formulas calling for it. What are the photographic applications for it? I use it as a descaler in my espresso machine and the combination of caffeine and my curiosity had me wondering....

I would tend to believe its used for making bleaches but don't quote me on that.

Argyrotype.

Sulfamic acid is combined with silver oxide and something else (FAC maybe). If I remember correctly, my books/notes aren't here. It's another process dependent on humidity. I've burned through a couple batches and negatives a while back but found VDB and Kallitypye more predictable. Although Argyrotype has many more colors that are possible. It is a beautiful process but somewhat finikey.

It may be one of the ingredients in Ilford's bleach for Ilfochromes. Or is that sulfonic acid?

I use Sulfamic acid to clear platinum/palladium prints (Ziatype method). It works much better than citric acid or sodium sulfite. I use 35 ml/L of H2O. The main ingredient of the Lime Away being Sulfamic acid.
