Hello

Just booked a familiy holiday in Friesland (late July), staying not far from Dokkum. Any photographic suggestions would be welcome.

I will have medium format Delta 3200 film as well as 35mm colour slide. I normally shoot still life/landscapes back in the UK but I am keen to try other subjects when on holiday.

Regards

Les

Expect a lot of water, sailboats, motorboats, surfers, etc. In other words: watersports. Harbours with all the sailingboats; you can just picture the scene, right?

Idea: If you know how to operate it, rent a boat. Friesland is the place for that.

Delta 3200? Are you sure? It can be sunny here in July (it's not the UK ). Delta 100 or Delta 400 will do.

Texel is nice, but closer to Friesland you will find Terschelling, Ameland, Schiermonnikoog as small islands ("waddeneilanden"). But you will find enough to photograph on the mainland, I'm sure. Plenty of old places.

Hello Les,

The islands Texel but closer to Dokkum schiermonnikoog, ameland are indeed worth a visit if you like nature. more closely is the wad ( the sea between the coast and the islands) very beautyfull nature with plenty of shooting to do. For a city I would reccomend Groningen because ist a very alive and nice town.
Do you have a car? cause busses of train won't get you easy to the nicest places.

Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestions. I visited Groningen in July a few years ago and thought it must be a great place to be a student. It was also very hot.
