Sugar amount in glop

we have been known to get down to less than 10 percent humidity and a super humid day for us is like 30%. With this in mind the few recipes I can find for glop, including Sandy's, calls for around 50g of sugar. I know this depends on humidity but to be safe would adding 60-70g work or should I be looking at more?

Ink is on its way and I will be ready to mix my first batch.

I assume Sandy's 50g (per liter?) of sugar is probably adjusted for his South Carolina environment = fairly humid. You might want to start at 60-70g, but you might have to go higher than that.

You may want to consider glycerin instead of, or in addition to, some sugar. I'm away from my notes, but i use somewhere between 6-12ml per liter of glop for my 30-45% indoor RH environment. No sugar at all.

You'll know you'll need to add more if the tissues curl up like cigars when dry, if they crack when flexed, or if the gelatin pulls itself clean off your substrate.

Keep in mind that the more sugar/glycerin you put in your tissues, you'll have to reduce your soaking time prior to making, otherwise the tissue gets too wet, and it won't mate properly.

I live in a desert environment as well with around 20-30% humidity and I use 50 grams per liter of glop and it works ok. I have added glycerine and did not notice much effect except it took a while longer to dry. My tissues are fairly thick and have a slight inward curl that straightens out after I apply sensitizer. I would do as Gmikol suggests and adjust from there. Good luck
