Hi,
Its been a long time since I had to shoot 4x5 (college 25yrs) but now have an opportunity to test a Linhof on behalf of a client. I have film, only one box and will be mailing (FedEx) the film to the lab.

I was wondering how people get their film to the lab. I expect the answer is to collect boxes and use them but as I say, I have only one. Is there such thing as a mailer or dark sleeve for 4x5 film that is either disposable or returnable by labs?

If not, some suggestions on how you deal with the sending of film for processing may be helpful.

Cheers

Box. If you haven't any spares ask and somebody will surely have one to share.

For local labs I would occasionally bring them film in holders but I wouldn't ship holders.

Agree with Brian. Ask around for spare boxes, and there are always people who have some spares and can send a couple for postage, if they're not in your neck of the woods.

Thanks guys. As I expected. And logical.

So I'll make an official request. If there is anyone in the Tampa bay area on the forums that has a box, message me.

Out of area folks can get in touch too - I will cover mailing charges.

Actually just been notified of a local lab that will simply take the holders briefly. Suits my needs for now.

Thanks for your time.

If I had only one or few sheets I would use a cardboard envelop.

This one even is from microcorrugated cardboard:
