I noticed that the Film Developing Cookbook indicates there is little research with modern films for the p-aminophenol HCL developing agent. I also noticed that the one formula that uses it other than Rodinol is Kodak DK-93. DK-93 appears to be DK-60a with twice as much p-aminophenol replacing the metol.

So my question is, if I want to try substituting p-aminophenol HCL in some metol or M-Q developers, would doubling the weight be a good starting point?

BTW, p-aminophenol is also used in the Pyrocat-P formula, and at about 2X th amount of metol used in Pyrocat-M. So from my experience doubling the weight compared to metol seem like a pretty good starting point.

Kodak D-93 used the sesquioxalate rather than the hydrochloride, so the amount is not as much as you think. BTW, D-93 was a pretty nice developer for both films and papers. It kept well, too.
