Hey,

I've been unable to find out what these cubes used in studio photography for the model to sit on are called.

Thanks

As non-native speaker I would propose "studio sitting cubes".
What do you think of that?

I'd just call them "cubes," if they're in the photo.

"Props" can be anything to fill the studio with...
May not even be practical.

That is true but the cine studio people normally have contractors to supply various props as living near to a studio there was a cottage industry of furniture (ie 'props') providers that sold off bespoke creations that had not made a set or would refurbished damaged furniture from your own house.

They got premium prices from studios.

Everything in a studio apart from reflectors lights background etc. Is a prop or maybe sceanery.

I think you were aware of word... Hate people whose English is better than mine!

I mean, I often have difficulties understanding thread titles. In this case I immediately knew what was meant. The terminology thus could not be bad.

Way back when, we called them "posing blocks", or just "blocks".

Apple boxes

I think of "apple boxes" as the wooden boxes, often unfinished or simply varnished, that photographers or assistants stand on to get a higher angle or reach a tall light stand. These are finished and meant to be part of the set.

You may be right, but I have seen the wooden apple boxes covered in fabric and used during portrait sessions.

Our gym has something similar. Used by mad exercises to do extreme step-ups! Or even 'jump-ups!'

Ya...the post above mentioned the gym...
In the fitness weightlifting world...the "Jerk Blocks" term is from the wooden blocks being used to perfect technique in
the Clean & Jerk movement...

I guess in photography, you could use them to pose "difficult" subjects....(aka many celebrities)
