That's three for three struss owners who refuse to do a side to side comparison with simple mensicus lenses.
So to paraphrase, the argument against the facts in the dissertation goes like this:
You don't know anything about struss lenses because you don't own one. Since you don't own a struss lens, you are therefore unintelligent and uneducated. Therefore, anything you quote from a doctoral dissertation is false.
It looks like that struss lens really does have the majick to alter reality--particularly for the struss owners.
It is doubtful that a struss / reinhold shootout ever happen--or it has happened and the results will never be posted for obvious reasons.
That being said, CONGRADULATIONS is in order for Jim Galli for actually publishing the results of a struss versus a crappy meniscus lens on his website! The problem is--it was a "loaded dice" comparison--the struss picture has no sun glare on the windshield--the crappy mensiscus shot was purposely exposed to a full on sky reflection in the windshield to make the crappy lens look WAY crappier. It's the struss majick again affecting the owners shooting! More likely, this "comparison" was likely done with eventual future lens sales in mind.
The consensus among struss owners is that the power of a struss is something so mystickly special that it can never be proven--much like faith in a higher power--you must accept to be saved. The only way to really "know" is to become "the bigger sucker" and "buy one yourself".
Well, the small numbers of struss lenses out there, unfortunately, will relegate most of the poor slobs of the world to live lives of "unintelligent" and "uneducated" misery.
Well, scientists, and most consumers, prefer facts to fantasy.
Galli did bring something new to the table--this mexican hat shape. If it's true, and the other struss owners can verify it, maybe there IS something special going on. Any other struss owner can verify this shape? Can any at least put the lens element on a table and photograph it on it's side , maybe? That will certainly put this to rest. Otherwise, it's still more "galli says".
