Hi NB23
Nice photographs ( as usual ) thanks for sharing !
Yeah, it is pretty useless, and there really isn't much of a point.
I ask myself that same question every day and every day I find something I want to make a photograph of, and see what it looks like.
And when I get in the darkroom or peek at a sun print or retina print I still get goosebumps when I see an image appear in the tray
or the film tank or rinsed off as a blueprint or see the sun stain.
I can't really think of any other reason to do it other than its fun and a way I can just be in the zone and not really think about anything else.

I don't bother with contacts. Here is no diffrence from just looking at the negative.Yes, but then, like me, you might end up with over 1000 developed negatives you still haven’t contact printed... and that is the key point where you ask yourself “wtf?”
Haha

True-I started doing it to push my comfort zone and try something different; it seems to be working!I like street photography cause its extremely challenging, I'm woeful, so I'll be at the cross roads.....
Yes sirrrrrrrOh yeah! That's great!
Got a website NB23? I've seen you around the forums for years and have no idea who you are.
I pass on the contact sheets, though I do scan everything i shoot. Throw it in the Nikon and come back in an hour, then throw the next one in. Makes it easy but not instant.
I think a lot of people are in the same boat these days. I have about a thousand images in a Lightroom folder "to print". Probably never get around to even a tenth of them. If there was money involved I would, but printing has gotten expensive in case anyone hasn't noticed. I spend my darkroom time these days printing the projects. The one off images just sit in the neg binders and in the computer. Maybe when I get older I'll print them. Just as long as some a-hat real estate hack doesn't come along after I'm dead and make millions off of what I did in my life. I don't mind if my family does.
In the end you gotta just keep doing what you love. I go through spurts where I barely make an image for months, then something happens and I pick up the cameras again. Kind of like being bipolar I'd imagine. I'm either making a lot of images, or none.
A couple thingsI decided to scan a few shots and why not, post them here. I have too many and have no idea what to do with them. Instagram doesn't help. Nothing helps. It's all useless in the end.
I have no idea why I'm even photographing. What's the purpose?
And you?

I am like Gorbachev; people saw me around but they don’t know who I am really.
No website. Who needs an outdated website nowadays when there’s instagram, facebook and so many click’n’play platforms? We live in an era where we can have our 2 minutes of fame, 24/7/365.
Personally, I am not delusional. I don’t live with the idea that my work will be worth millions one day. I just question purpose of having to shoot, having to freeze a moment.
It’s fun, and the adrenaline is addictive. So this might be it; the adrenaline is addictive. Simple...
A couple things
1. That first frame...... those ARE good places to go. Lots of action and potential. People seem to be either oblivious to a camera, or they simply do not care. What i "hate" about carnivals and fairs is that they usually lend well to color, and i shoot HP5 97% of the time. So i actually started to carry a second body that is stuffed with Kodak Color Plus 200. Car shows are similar. The bigger ones have food, vendors and often times a band playing. IMHO, cars typically look "better" in color, especially the beautiful paint jobs that you find at a car show. So i end up shooting many scenes in Color and B&W.
2. The point or the purpose.? For me it is parts therapeutic, soul searching and meditative. Regards street-photography, i always go alone. So there is always a lot of time for some type of reflection. I almost look forward to that aspect of it as i do the actual photography.
3. This might be cliche, or just an excuse to be a lousy photographer, but,....... I really do not expect to get better than 10% "Good Frames" from a roll of film. Not saying the other 90% are garbage, but IMHO most of my negatives never get printed because they just do not warrant the effort .
Good points...I'd be pretty pleased with a 10% hit rate with 35mm. Mind you, I think my hit rate has improved through my experience with MF and LF and transferring a bit of 'measure twice cut once to 35mm'.A couple things
