Hi all
I am new here and usually active on dpreview in the film photography forum and this is a repost from there of a problem I have. Just want to see I anyone here can shed some light on what I have messed up. Here it is:

--------------
I just developed a roll of delta 400 taken with a Yashica Electro 35. But I think I messed up the development. Here are some scans with no corrections:

I have scanned them as 48-bit color, 2400 dpi with Epson Scan. This clear area goes through the whole roll more or less, sometimes very present, other times more diminished.

When I rolled the film into the reel, I started to feel more and more resistance and when the whole roll was loaded it was really tight to more it further along. Hope this makes sense. I have only developed very few 35mm rolls, but I am sure it is not supposed to feel this way; that the film should roll into the reel without much resistance. Am I right?

Here is the film, while I hold it up to the light. You can clearly see that streaks here. The film must have been in contact with itself on the reel while I developed it...? With the tightness, I must simply have rolled it wrongly in the reel.

End of post ----------------

It was suggested that I try to refix the film, which I will do tonight.

Thanks very much,

I would put my bets on insufficient fixing, especially when the middle area of the film is kind of milky. Refix in fesh fixer as soon as you can and rins and dry again.

Yes, looks like a fixing issue.
#3 also looks like water spots or residue left after wetting agent. Easy to remove by cleaning the negative.

Fixing issue and then washing issue. Next time you will do better.

By the way - thank you for posting photos of the negatives themselves. That is so much more useful than scans.

Keep in mind that cleaning the negative sometimes means scratching the negative. If you want to banish drying marks forever, use distilled water for a final 30 second film rinse, run the shower in the bathroom, and take the neg strip and whip it to fling the excess water off. Then hang the negatives in the steamy bathroom, weight the end of the strip, and spritz both sides w/ distilled water. Now you're ready to shut the door and let the negs slowly dry in the humidity.

This is basically what I do w/ the prints, and it also got rid of the drying marks on them :}
