Does anyone know anything about Hydralok Tripods, made in Australia.

I've recently acquired one of these tripods, it's large, substantial, and heavy duty. What makes it different to nay other tripod I've seen or used before is the column sits in a ball type fitting and by releasing a locking mechanism can be swivelled and tilted easily.

I haven't googled hydralok -- that's your job, Ian -- but tripods made to support cine cameras have integral ball levelers and pan/tilt heads. Real tripods, that is, not ones sold for use by amateurs and especially amateurs with camcorders.

The leveler is used to make the pan axis vertical. If it isn't vertical, the horizon will move during pans.

A Google search now finds one relevant link about a Hydralok tripod - this post itself :D

Thanks Dan that's what I wanted to know, it seems to work well.
