strange contax RX problem.

Hello APUG. please see the video i made below. I was wondering if any contax RX users have encountered the same and if so could tell me what the problem is.

It means you reached the end of the roll. Page 84 of the RX manual refers exactly to what you see happening. If you want you can change the custom functions to have it auto rewind at end. It's custom function #8. Default is for it to do what you see and you use the rewind button (0 setting of this function). Change to 1 setting for this custom function and it will auto rewind at the end of the roll instead. Google search "Contax RX manual" and see the manual at the Butkus.org site. Page 174 for how to change custom functions.

Ok interesting. It's never had that blinking digits before when it reached the end of the roll. In fact the roll before the one i show in the video did this at frame 27, not 37. It was a 36 exp roll of provia 400x. Sadly one of the custom functions buttons doesn't work so i can't change anything.

Update. I was able to CLE all the custom functions and return them to normal. Strange, that it just started to behave this way. Looks like everything is operational and not being able to access the custom functions isn't that big of a deal.

It goes by sensing the tension. Must have been a roll that for some reason was tough to pull from the spool and the camera thought the end had come. I've had that happen on my RX but not very often.

Clearing the functions I assume you mean resetting all to default original settings? If so your rewind is at manual again where you need to use the rewind switch, it will not auto rewind.

Yes, that's right i was able to clear all the functions. Do you have any clue if there is a repair shop in the US that will still service the RX? The second custom function button doesn't work. Although i suspect it's as easy as taking the top off and cleaning the contact.
