Strange bending/curling of film during drying

Can anyone help me figure out why this happens and how I can prevent it? The film is curling into itself along its long edge which is really weird. Is this normal? I have a weighted clip on the bottom of the film but it doesn't seem to stop this.

I have a roll of Delta 100 120 drying right now that looks like that, and most of mine do until dry and taken down. Maybe because it is drying from the outside in, or the weighted clip in the middle? It has not caused me a problem yet.

Your humidity is low after 12 hours it should be stable, all films do it PET least Kodak most.
It is normal don't worry unless you can't file the negatives.

I expect what other have said that it is uneven drying but once all dry out should be good and uniform. Check for drying spots though. Do you use photo-flo treatment? I also use clean squeegee tongs (but that's risky).

Normal cupping and curling during drying. If your humidity is low, dry the film in the shower. Steam up the shower then turn off before hanging film to dry. Just close the door and walk away and leave over night, it should be straight or very minor cupping when done.

The emulsion changes dimensions when wet more than the base. As it dries the film curls a bit, which is why you use a weighted clip on the bottom. Some of my 35mm stuff deflects about 3-4 cm half way through the dry process.

That is what I have done when this happens. I now do all the drying in the bathroom shower, most of the time I do not have to steam up the room.

Film and paper curl more when they dry in a drier environment. I second what Rick said - steam up a shower and dry the negs there. The ones in the picture look like they aren't really completely dry, too.

120 films have a gelatin layer on the back as well it's one side drying fatser than the other and also different parts drying ffirst, quite normal, The base is much thinner than 35mm or LF film.
