I would want relatively simple camera, fixed lens, minimally subject to dust and dirt problems, my first choice would be a Rolleiflex TLR. I'd deal with whatever film was available to me.

My choice would be the following, Nikonos V with a 35mm lens and Kodak Gold 400

I am assuming that I will be able to get the film processed some day, if I have to process on the island I want Tmax 400.

Why this camera? the Nikonos V with a 35mm lens is a tank and will be good in and out of deep water for a few years then I will get even more years of on land use out of it in any weather. And when the battery dies this camera can still shoot at 1/90 sec.

Why that lens? I know this is not an ideal lens, but it is the best in and out of water compromise lens for the Nikonos.

Why the film? I assume that I would be more chronicling my days, not producing art, Gold 400 will allow me to do that, while the colors will not be all that great, they will be accurate and as they would be more of a document that is what I would want. The 400 film is also fast enough to allow me to get nice bright photos without flash in deep water, late in the day, and when the battery dies in the camera this film will still be able to deliver.

depends on if I knew I was going to be stranded or not. I usually carry a pentax k1000 when I'm out and about loaded with FP4+ to be processed as slides. I'd have that if I was suddenly stranded.

If I was going in to exile, I'd probably want to take a 5x7 Shen Hao loaded with FP4+ or HP5+ (again, to be processed as slides and contact printed on to positive paper). I dont have the shen hao yet, but I'm saving up for one, so I'd like a little bit of notice before being shipped off so I can get some money together

And mailers so that the prints could be returned to my deserted location !!!

This is why I'd want my Pentax 6x7 along. (The Nikon D60 would lose vs. most small game.)

It would have to be my M2 and Canon LTM 50mm f/1.4, no batteries required and a lens that is soft and smooth wide open but sharpens up when stopped down a little, lots of 'character' to play with. As for film, that is more difficult I have just about used all of my stash of APX100 and have not yet settled on a new 'standard' film. Perhaps FP4 or Neopan 100, and developer would be Xtol, lots of dilutions, times and speeds / contrasts to play with.

Haven't used enough MF cameras to make an informed jugement. Out of the ones I've used, RZ67 with the 110 and WLF. I'd love to try a Hassy 203FE with the 110 f/2 to compare though, at probably 10 times the price.

I am stranded on a nearly deserted island(s) (the Falkland Islands). But we have a great postal service courtesy of the RAF. I have to get by with 3 Nikon Fs, a Nikkormat, Fuji GW690, Mamiya RB67, Bessa L, Contax II and several others. Does this count?

I would take one of the newer nikon dslrs with the GPS function on it so I can take a photo of myself holding a sign that says "get me the hell out of here", get rescued, sell the camera, buy a mamiya 7 and 80 f/4 and a lot of portra. boom.

I'd bring my Koni-Omega Rapid 100 and whatever film I had handy (likely Tri-X). This way, when I'm not shooting I can use the K-O to crack open coconuts, club small animals, etc In 35mm I'd bring my Argus C3 for much the same reason.

Deardorff 8x10 with 300mm Commercial Ektar. FP4+ with PyroCatHD. A boatload of Cyanotype Chems ad some really pretty Arches or the like paper.

Git back to basics.

i guess it would be a home made 3x4 box camera and a pallet of expired fb 5x7 paper.
i wouldn't need any film, and the images would vanish soon after i make them,
unless i figure out a way to fix them in sea water and sand ...
but if what jason suggested is true that 4x5 is the new 35mm,
then i would use a home made 10x12 camera,
and a pallet of 8x10 paper ...
